Folklore is the identity card of a nation, giving shape, color and voice to the feelings and soul of that nation. In the cross-border area between Romania and Bulgaria, traditions are carefully preserved, reminding us that we are all connected to the same roots, fed by the same source: the celebration of life.
The Interreg V-A Romania - Bulgaria Programme offers the opportunity to support the preservation of traditions, financing projects that aim to promote folklore, encouraging those interested to open their hearts to songs, traditions, dances, folk costumes and history. The emphasis was placed on increasing the degree of access, participation and involvement of citizens in cultural life, by organizing numerous information and promotion actions, festivals and fairs where local traditions were promoted.
Thus, the projects „Valorization of authentic culture for cross-border tourism” (ROBG - 13) and „Living human treasures” (ROBG - 358) are just two examples that have contributed to the discovery and promotion of authentic culture ( traditions, dances, songs, traditional cuisine) in the cross-border area and the creation of new tourist products by using the cultural heritage of the region.
