A joint opened window to the universe mysteries

What’s the goal?

The overall objective of the project is to capitalize on the touristic potential of the region (both natural and cultural), by diversifying the touristic offer of the cross-border region, focusing on scientific tourism.

What’s the budget?

1,473,253.99 euro, out of which 1,252,265.87 euro ERDF

Target at the half of the implementation period: 55,000 euro for LB, 18,000 euro for B2, 12,900 euro for B3 and 4,000 euro for B4.

How is it going to happen?

  • Development of 3 tourism products: Astronomy camps, Navigation by stars and Origins;
  • Development of the strategy for valorising the natural and cultural heritage through its restoration (where applicable) and promotion;
  • Setting-up of a center of excellence that will offer a common image of the region Constanta-Dobrich in order to attract tourists;
  • Organization of communication events.

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs:

- 3 integrated tourism products/services created;

- 1 common strategy, policy or management plan for valorising (including raising awareness) the cultural and natural heritage through its restoration and promotion for sustainable economic uses.

Programme results: increase of the number of overnights in the CBC area with 47,000.

Project status

The project is currently in the 37th month of the project implementation out of 48, with following results achieved so far:

Work package T1. “Creation of tourism products”:

1. “Navigation by stars”:

a) 4K Hybrid Planetarium and Planetarium shows set - contract for equipment delivery was signed on 09.08.2021, with the deadline of 9 months for delivering, installation, testing the equipment and training of the beneficiary staff – until May 2022;

b) Package for Astronomy camp touristic product – the contract for equipment delivery is still not signed by the B2, the procurement procedure is expecting to be launched in October 2021;

c) Offshore sails in the Black Sea - 4 first offshore sails in the Black Sea were organized by the Beneficiary 3 - “Mircea cel Batran” Naval Academy: one with “Bricul Mircea” training ship and 3 with 4 yola type sailing boats;

d) Outdoor observations – 15 outdoor observations are ongoing, expecting to be finalized until the end of October 2021;

e) Astronomy lessons – 145 lessons out of a total 180 lessons were organized by the project beneficiaries. The remaining 35 lessons and the 7-days camp will be organized after purchasing and installing the 4K Hybrid Planetarium.

In what concerns the Beneficiary 3 - “Mircea cel Batran” Naval Academy and Beneficiary 4 -“Mircea cel Batran” National College, the both project beneficiaries purchased all the equipment foreseen within the application form.

Work package T2. “Joint strategy for valorising the natural and cultural heritage”

LB and B2 have completed the strategy on their part of the border; B2 has compiled the two deliverables into a single, joint strategy, applicable for the entire project area. The only activity remained to be organized is the strategy release (event for promotion of the strategy), which is foreseen to be organized until November 2021.

Work package T3. “Center of excellence” – the activity is ongoing.

The partners have decided both the partnership and the NGO responsible with the administration of the future Center of Excellence, appointed the president and the censor of the NGO. The headquarters of NGO was established at the LB, expecting to be approved by Constanta County Council, the owner of the building. The documents were elaborated, following to be sent to Constanta Court for registration.
