What’s the goal?

To improve the sustainable use of the natural and cultural heritage in the target cross-border region Dobrich-Constanta (Harsova – Krushari) through the development and promotion of joint tourism product ZALDAPA-DRY VALLEY-CARSIUM.

What’s the budget?

3,202,768.49 euro, out of which 2,722,353.22 ERDF

Target at the half of the implementation period: 93,541 euro for Lead Beneficiary, 114,541 euro for Beneficiary 2, 0 euro for Beneficiary 3 and 67,668 euro for Beneficiary 4.

How is it going to happen?

  • Information and publicity: temporary and permanent panels, joint press conferences, personalized press folders, press releases, TV spots, Radio spots, promotional film, web-site, bilingual posters, leaflets;
  • Revitalization of Cultural Heritage in Hârşova through the restoration, conservation and enhancement of Ensemble “Vasile Cotovu” as a Multicultural Center Museum;
  • Development of tourism infrastructure of Fortress Zaldapa - Municipality KRUSHARI;
  • Development of tourism infrastructure in Dry Valley;
  • Setting up an outdoor museum in Krushari Municipality;
  • Workshop on the topic: developing and promoting of a cross-border tourism product – advantages and challenges;
  • Creation of a joint marketing strategy;
  • Establishing of a touristic route and guided tour "Zaldapa-Dry Valley-Karsium”;
  • Promotion of the joint tourism product through a presentation film and a web site;
  • Preparation of advertising package for joint tourism product;
  • Organization of a scientific symposium: recovery of Hârşova Town’s and Krushari Municipality’s Memory;
  • Archaeological camp;
  • Conducting two promotional events;

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs:

- 1 integrated tourism product;

- 4.000 visits to supported sites of cultural and natural heritage and attraction;

- 1 common strategy;

Programme results: 45 000 tourist overnights in the CBC region until 2023.

Project status

Lead Beneficiary purchased the equipment for the implementation team and signed the contracts for consultancy services project management, translation and interpretation, information and promotion and technical projects elaboration. Lead Beneficiary received the technical projects and purchased 20 bikes with safety equipment.

LB launched the procurement procedure for the rehabilitation of roads 2 times and, according to LB statement, first time only one offer was received, which was rejected due to the fact that the documentation was not in compliance with the requirements. The second time, LB did not receive offers. Having in mind the abovementioned issues, LB decided to change the type of the procurement procedure, choosing the negotiation.

The works contract was signed on 15.07.2019 with a value of 1,874,002.63 RON, without VAT. The works started on 05.08.2019 and according to the information provided by LB, the physical status of works is of 15%.

The procurement procedure for restauration of the multicultural centre is in the financial assessment phase.

Beneficiary 2 purchased the equipment for the implementation team, signed the contract for works and contracts for translation and interpretation services, information and publicity and transport. The works for the outdoor museum (Lapidarium) with artefacts from Zaldapa fortress are finalized, and the museum is opened.

Between 15-16 May 2018, Krushari Municipality and Regional Museum of History Dobrich organized the workshop in order to develop and promote the cross-border tourism product.

Beneficiary 4 signed the contract for elaboration of the joint marketing strategy and a plan of measures regarding the implementation of the activities as developed. The joint market strategy was elaborated in Bulgarian language.
