New destinations in cross-border tourism

What’s the goal?

The overall objective of the project is to promote cooperation among institutions and people by using the cultural and natural resources in a sustainable touristic way.

What’s the budget?

1,364,438.31 euro, out of which 1,159,772.56 euro ERDF

Target at the half of the implementation period: 36,469 euro for LB and 2,875 euro for B2

How is it going to happen?

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs: 4 integrated tourism products created, 1 common strategy for valorising the cultural and natural heritage through its restoration and promotion for sustainable economic uses, 11,663 visits to supported sites of cultural and natural heritage and attraction.

Programme results: 16,100 tourist overnights in the CBC region

Project status

B2 has signed the contract for delivery of the equipment (virtual assistants, hologram, interactive totems, exhibitors).

By purchasing the mentioned equipment, B2 will upgrade the museum exhibition techniques and will advance the museum endowment to new, modern, attractive ways, by using interactivity and virtual techniques into integrating information from both sides of the border.

LB and B2 elaborated the project message in Romanian and Bulgarian: “Culture through tourism”. In December 2020, the promotional materials (500 caps, 500 cans, 1500 pens, 500 magnets and 100 address books), inscribed with the project message, were acquired.

The construction works on the site implementation: “Paleopark, Fence and Information Center with Exposure Area” are ongoing:

1. Stage 1: Introductory works;

2. Stage 2: The main works:

2.1. Excavation, formwork and bulk works;

2.2. Laying of concrete;

2.3. Hydro Isolations;

2.4. Fence;

2.5. Structural steel.

Through this investment, the project will establish a new touristic resource in Varshets, respectively a museum complex: Paleo Park and Information Centre with an Exhibition Area using the advanced innovative instruments abovementioned, targeting national and cross-border tourists. This will contribute to the touristic product created within the project: Cross-Border Museums Tour. The works are foreseen to be finalized at the end of July, 2021.
