The Wrriten Treasures of Lower Danube

What’s the goal?

Overall project objective is encouraging joint conservation, protection, promotion and development of the written intangible cultural heritage of the RO–BG CBC region through diversification of tourist services and literary tourism development, as a major factor for using and exploiting common advantages and potentials, and overcoming discrepancies.

How is it going to happen?

  • A new integrated tourist product Lower Danube Cross-border Destination for Literary Tourism (Lower Danube CBDLT)
  • Two pilot modern and innovative for the whole region literary tourist attractions will be created in the libraries in Ruse and Craiova, based on the newest digital technologies,
  • At least 5 literature tourist packages and 5 tourist routes will be created in the cross-border region
  • Two international literary festivals.
  • An Integrated Development Strategy of Lower Danube CBDLT worked out with the active participation of all kind of stakeholders in the CBC region;A Three Year Action Plan for Management of the New Lower Danube CBDLT;
  • A Strategic plan for Cross-border network of stakeholders development will be prepared
  • An Innovative Marketing strategy for internationally promoting the new image of Lower Danube CBDLT.

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs: Increase in expected number of visits to supported sites of cultural and natural heritage and attraction, 2 integrated tourism products/services created, 4 common strategies, policies or management plans for valorizing (including raising awareness) the cultural and natural heritage through its restoration and promotion for sustainable economic uses.

Programme results: increase of the number of overnights in the CBC area with 4.320.

Project status

The activity regarding conducting a regional research and working out Integrated Sustainable Development Strategy of the Written Treasures of Lower Danube Cross-Border Destination for Literature Tourism is finalized.

The results achieved by this activity include an electronic database of the identified resources for literary tourism, used as the base for developing routes and sites for Literature Tourism and will also be used in the later evaluation of the potential Stakeholders.

The process of digitalization is ongoing and it is supposed to continue beyond the time frame of the current project and a target of at least 200 000 pages scanned per project partner is set. B2 scanned so far 133.000 pages.

The following equipment has been delivered so far:

-Book Laminating Station;

-2 x Book scanner;

-Digital content storage server;

- 2 x Router with firewall;

- 2 x Uninterruptible power supply;

- 4 x Desktop PC;

- 2 x Fog screen for interactive presentation of comics collections and old pictures;

- 2 x Hologram cube 22’ for holographic images;

- 2 x Interactive 3D Promoter;

- 2 x Holographic image pyramid 64’;

- 4 x Multimedia interactive screens 65”;

- 2 x Big touchscreen table 55”;

- 4 x Transparent screen 50”;

The process of signing of the 150 Memorandums of Understanding with potential stakeholders of the cross-border region is ongoing.

In relation to the two literary festivals foreseen to take place in Craiova and Ruse, the following equipment has been delivered so far:

- 3 x Portable computer for outdoor activities;

- 1 x professional camera to get quality video and images from events during the literary festivals;

- 1 x portable screen;
