To promote the cross border area Ruse-Giurgiu through development of cultural/religious tourism, based on sustainable use of the cultural, religious and historical heritage of the region.

1,499,991.21 euro, out of which 1,274,992.51 ERDF

How?

  • Restored 3 temples in Ruse and Vedea, Giurgiu county;
  • Developed 3 joint integrated cross border tourist products for cultural and religious tourism;
  • Organizing of tours for tourist agents, tour operators, authors of guides, journalists, fans of cultural and religious tourism etc. on the routes for cultural and religious tourism in the cross border area Russe-Giurgiu elaborated under the project;
  • Elaborated joint strategy for common preservation and use of the cultural, religious and historical heritage as a base of sustainable development of cultural and religious tourism in the cross border area Russe-Giurgiu;
  • Establishment of network from stakeholders for development of cultural and religious tourism in the cross-border region Russe – Giurgiu;
  • Preservation of available material values - works, books, photographs by special processing and/or digitization, or old liturgical robes and other cultural objects (rosses, float lights, chandeliers, nuptial crowns, candlesticks etc.), so that they can be so that they can be exhibited.

Results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs:

Increase with 35,000 the expected number of visits to supported sites of cultural and natural heritage and attraction

3 integrated tourism products/services created

1 common strategy, policies or management plans for valorizing (including raising awareness) the cultural and natural heritage through its restoration and promotion for sustainable economic uses

Programme results:

Increase with 35,000 the number of the tourist overnights in the CBC region.

Project status:

The project implementation started on 12.01.2019.

The Lead Beneficiary and Beneficiary 3 started the activity related to the elaboration of the technical designs for the restoration of the buildings of St. Petka Church and St. Georgi Church.

In the meantime, Beneficiary 2 awarded the contract for external project management and started to draft the tender documentation for its public procurements.
