Risk management and flood protection in cross-border regions Calarasi and Polski Trambesh

The main objective of the project is to improve the joint risk management in the cross-border region Polski Trambesh (Bulgaria) and Călăraşi County (România)

How is it going to happen?                                  

  • improved conductivity of the riverbed of river Eliyska
  • implementation of a Flood Forecasting and Early Warning System in Polski Trambesh Municipality
  • improved endowment of IES Călăraşi by purchasing 3 new intervention vehicles
  • implementation of an Emergency situations management information system in Călăraşi County
  • joint action plan in the field of emergency situations signed

What will be the results (what’s the contribution to the Programme)?

Programme outputs: 300 000 people benefiting from actions of risk management, 150 00 people benefiting from flood protection measures, 1 joint partnership in the field of joint early warning and emergency response

Programme results: improved quality of joint risk management

The Lead Beneficiary Polski Trambesh Municipality managed to award all the procurement contracts, but the one for early warning system.The rehabilitation works for improving the conductivity of the riverbed of river Eliyska were successfully completed, on time, in March 2019. Following acceptance by the State Acceptance Commission on 31.05.2019,   the permit for use was issued in June 2019.

The Beneficiary 2 – Calarasi County purchased the Vehicle for unexploded bombs transport (28.02.2019) and Emergency vehicle fitted with 60-tonne crane and rescue equipment (07.10.2019. 

Beneficiary 2 also awarded the contract for the integrated information system on the management of emergencies in Calarasi County and the related hardware (servers, workstations, routers, etc.) and software equipment (GIS, database, emergency simulation, OS licenses) was delivered in May 2019, while the related analysis, development and testing services are ongoing.

The initial joint meeting with stakeholders took place in Polski Trambesh on 23.03.2018 and an information meeting with 39 participants was organized by the Lead Beneficiary on 27.02.2019.
